THE BIRTH OF THE EXPERT EMPIRES MASTERMIND...

First things first, a statement from me (Nick James)…

I’m genuinely passionate about helping Coaches, Consultants, Speakers, Trainers, Authors, and other ‘Expert’ business owners, to create a bigger IMPACT and more INCOME.

Over the last 12 years I’ve worked with literally thousands of people in this space, through my various coaching, consulting, and mentoring programmes.

And in that time, I’ve grown my own business through the THREE very distinct phases of building an ‘Expert Empire’…

phase one

It all started back in early 2008, when I left the safety of my job in sales and marketing and started my first ‘proper’ business as a freelance copywriter. 
 
I worked from my dining room table, writing email campaigns, sales letters, and other marketing materials for my clients, who were mostly NLP Professionals and Coaches. 
 
Within the first 12 months I’d made a very respectable £53k, and in year 2 that number was growing steadily to £70k-80k. 
 
The problem?

I was ‘stuck’ selling time for money.

PHASE TWO

So, in late 2009 I ran my first live workshop, teaching NLPers and Coaches how to write copy for them- selves. 
 
I only managed to sell 8 tickets(!) but they each paid £1997 to attend (back then I was still putting a ‘7’ at the end of all my prices lol) so I made about £16k in sales, and probably £13k in profit from the event. 
 
It was the first time I’d been able to deliver in a ‘one-to-many’ instead of a ‘one-to-one’ format. 
 
I continued running these workshops on a quarterly basis, and in 2010 I broke through the six-figure barrier for the first time. By the end of 2011 I was bringing in £20k-£30k a month running regular events and working with a small number of private coaching/mentoring clients. 
 
The problem was, I’d maxed out on my capacity to deliver one-to-one. Maybe you can relate?

PHASE THREE

I’d seen quite a few other speakers and coaches run Masterminds and group programmes, so it seemed like the next logical step to create something similar. 

I’d noticed many of my clients shared a common goal… to reach £100k+ (six figures) in annual sales. And so, in October 2011, the Six Figure Mastermind was born. 

Over the next few years, I had literally thousands of people attend my live events, and hundreds of people graduate through the Six Figure Mastermind programme. 

As sales increased, I went from hiring a couple of part-timers working from home, to office premises and a full-time team, including people to look after admin, sales, marketing, and finance…

…And in 2014, we hit seven figures (£1m+) in annual sales for the first time ever!

Looking back, the business was a completely different animal to what I’d started from my dining room table, just a few years earlier. 

And, as I reflected on my journey, I began to realise just how different these three phases of business really were. 

In Phase One, it’s all about raising your profile, winning your first ‘one-on-one’ clients, and keeping costs as low as possible so you can pay the bills and still have a bit of money left over. 

At Phase Two, it’s about switching from a ‘one-to-one’ to a ‘one-to-many’ model, and growing your personal brand via various marketing channels. 

And at Phase Three, it’s about scaling your sales, marketing, and delivery functions by building a world-class team of people, so the success of the business is no longer solely reliant on you – the business owner. 

By the end of 2016, many of our Six Figure Mastermind members were comfortably generating £100k-£500k a year in revenue. 

But we still had many ‘Phase 1′ coaches, consultants, and Experts joining the programme. So I started to feel a little uneasy about the ‘gap’ between some of our members.

You know what I mean.

We had six figure business owners in a Mastermind, sat next to relative newbies. 
It just didn’t make sense. 

On top of that, some of our more successful members were starting to leave and search for a peer group who were playing a bigger game. 

I don’t blame them.

I mean, who wants to be the smartest person in the room, right?

And so, in early 2017 I created the Expert Empires 7-Figure Mastermind.

Today, the 7 Figure Mastermind is THE PLACE for ambitious Experts who want to grow their businesses to £1m+.
